Tiala shows her taekwondo talent

She is a nominee in the Community Newspaper Group HBF Junior Sports Hero.

Tiala was nominated by her proud mum Jen McKay.

‘Tiala has already represnted Australia and WA in taekwondo,’ she said.

‘She trains four times a week at Port Kennedy Oh Do Kwan Taekwondo under head instructor Master Anita Tippet. She started at five and received her black belt at 10.’

Tiala recently received her dan black belt and picked up a swag of medals.

She won gold at State level in sparring and two gold (sparring and creative pattern) and two silver (team pattern and individual pattern) at nationals in Melbourne.

‘Tiala has amassed numerous awards in taekwondo, including Outstanding Junior Tournament Award 2012,’ Jen said.

‘She is dedicated to her sport and is always enthusiastic about training and competing. She always strives to do her best. I am very proud of her achievements.’

A jack of all trades, Tiala was also champion girl at interschool swimming, athletics and cross-country this year.
