The Flames lost 80-42 to Willetton Tigers, with Kaye Tucker the highlight for the Flames, netting 10 points in a forgettable night for the local team.

Petrik said it was an ’embarrassing’ start to the season for last season’s grand finalists.

‘Willetton were excellent, don’t get me wrong, they would have beaten anyone that night but at the same time that would have been our worst performance in five years,’ he said.

Petrik said the absence of star Emma Cannon, who is playing in Germany, and Waves player Darcee Garbin was notable and their return, expected in May, could boost the side.
