Weston devised a concept that would provide hope to those who could only dream of stepping on to the MCG footy ground.

Weston’s Warriors is a concept to improve and develop the social and football skills of local junior footballers by given selected kids the opportunity to work with qualified coaches.

Once incorporated, the Warriors Junior Football Development Association will be able to begin fundraising to make this vision a reality.

‘The program will involve WA junior footballers living and breathing football for a week in Melbourne,’ Weston said.

‘The coaches will work as mentors and then the kids will be able to put their skills to the test against Melbourne teams, in an all-expenses -paid trip.

‘I have seen young kids with no mums, no dads or have come from very unstable backgrounds, and a program like this would give a little hope to these children and give them something to aspire towards.’

The Rockingham Senior High School teacher will select the footballers himself from local clubs who he believes will benefit the most from this experience.

The inaugural year is a trial for future events and will rely on community fundraising events.
