The 35 cadets in the program this year received training from Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club, which also took them on beach patrols.

The school’s health and education head of learning, Corey May, said the cadets would earn a Surf Life Saving qualification and certificate in Surf Rescue.

‘Through the year the students complete different certificates,’ he said.

The State Government-funded program is offered to students from years 8 to 12.
