Young stars compete in US

Five competitors and two coaches have travelled as part of the Australian team for the prestigious taekwondo event, which will see them take part under full contact World Taekwondo Federation rules.

Anita Tippet is the sparring coach for the Australian team and Kris Hartmann is acting as an assistant coach.

Black belt athletes competing include 13- year-olds Alana Broom-er and Tiala Skey, 15-year-old Rodney Hartmann, 16-year-old Larn- ie Henness and Jamie Gaymer (19).

Skey will compete in the 33-37kg Cadet division, while Broomer is in the 59+kg division.

Hartmann is in the Under-15 51-55kg and Henness in the Under-16 51-55kg division.

Gaymer will compete in the 87+kg open category division.
