REAL estate has been a journey for Donna Henneberry.

From working as a legal secretary, where her interest in real estate began, she become a licensed settlement agent and opened her own settlement agency, which she still owns and oversees 30 years later.

As her passion for property grew she went on to co-own a successful real estate agency and moved into sales, where she said she found her niche and “never looked back”.

Having older brothers prepared Ms Henneberry for the “boys’ world mentality” she faced in the early years of her career, but she said times had changed and did not feel being a woman in real estate added any challenges today and it was a great career for women.

“Real estate is great for those who want to have a career that provides financial security and allows you to have the flexibility that these days, with our busy lives, we need to have,” she said.

“It takes hard work and commitment but if it’s done right, real estate can be the perfect career for the modern woman.”

Having built a long-term successful and rewarding career, Ms Henneberry knows what it takes to succeed in the industry.

“As an individual you need to be self-motivated and be prepared to work hard,” she said.

“If you do what you say you are going to do and deliver on what you promise, you will go a long way.”
