Wild Earth for Perth: Photographer Richard Smyth opens new shop

Denise S. CahillWestern Suburbs Weekly

The Nedlands resident opened his second Wild Earth Images shop in London Court this month.

Mr Smyth’s shop at the Fremantle Markets is open three days a week and he expects some buyers to window shop in Fremantle and purchase in Perth, where they are open seven days.

“If someone sees something in Fremantle but works in the city they can return to make a purchase,” he said.

“We’re also planning for the future because when Elizabeth Quay opens we expect foot traffic through here to increase.”

Mr Smyth recently spent five weeks inland north of Perth but was unable to get coastal shots due to bad weather.

“The coastal strip is really interesting so I need to spend more time up there,” he said.

“While it requires a lot of preparation, time, patience and perseverance in making sure the weather and lighting conditions are right, it’s exhilarating to be where you have the wide open ocean before you and the vast wilderness of the outback behind.”
