CITY Beach resident Tahnee Harris “shed tears of happiness” when she was told her label Harris and Hunter would appear in the 2018 Perth Fashion Festival (PFF) New Generation show.

The 2017 South Metropolitan TAFE graduate said to receive a phone call from PFF was amazing.

“When I got the phone call from PFF in May saying I was in the show I thought what an opportunity to be recognised for my work,” she said.

The 22-year-old said her activewear label was for women, aged 18 to 35, who live an active lifestyle.

“The label is for girls who live an active lifestyle, whether it be going to yoga and pilates to picking the kids up from school,” she said.

“We are targeting the people who want to wear active wear that’s not all black and can add a little colour to their life.”

Miss Harris, who studied an advanced diploma in applied fashion design and merchandising, said after she graduated she had no plans to launch the collection.

However, the young designer said she was now hopeful to launch her label, shortly after the New Generation show on Thursday .

“It’s all based on manufacturing, which is offshore, and will determine my set date,” she said.

“In my head I have it as the middle of October for the launch, which will be the website launch, but more of a soft launch – these are exciting times.”

Miss Harris said she would endeavour to make her label known worldwide.

“I would love to showcase the label at Melbourne fashion festival,” she said.

“I also want to start a lifestyle shop called Harris and Hunter – that’s my five-year plan but as time goes on I would love be to known world wide.”
