DAVVERO (meaning really in Italian) Caffè e Cucina is where the Hamptons meets Italy.
Tucked away in Floreat Forum and neighbouring The Boulevard Hotel, it offers diners the relaxed atmosphere and classic style of the Hamptons with authentic Italian fare.
Popping in for the first time for lunch, it was time to indulge in the good stuff.
First up we tried the mozzarella di bufala, San Daniele prosciutto, cherry tomatoes and fried Coccoli ($26), and some bruschetta al pomodoro e mortadella ($16).
Disclosure – I could eat this type of food all day long – there is nothing better than grazing.
A beautiful ball of mozzarella and thinly sliced layer of prosciutto drizzled in EVO gets me every single time.
In fact, if I stopped here I would have walked out completely satisfied; it was the perfect start.
Next, and from what I can gather no longer on the menu, a delicious cheese soufflé with lashings of pureed pumpkin.
Light and fluffy with a sharpness so delightful, it was beautifully balanced by the pumpkin and was definite favourite of the meal.
For mains it was the Tagliata alla Toscana and with owner Christiano Fraulini hailing from Tuscany, there’s no way they could mess this dish up.
Too full for dessert, that’s where I left it, but I will be back to try out the breakfast.
Who doesn’t want an Aperol spritz served with brekkie?
