Lombok the new Bali: AirAsia offering $99 direct flights

AIRASIA has plans to make Lombok the new Bali, with its announcement of new four-time weekly flights from Perth starting June 9.

The airline is offering $99 one-way fares from now until March 24.

Fares are valid from June 9 to October 26 this year.

The flights leave on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

AirAsia Indonesia CEO Dendy Kurniawan hopes the island will become a thriving tourist destination for many Australians.

The new service between Perth and Lombok also provides a welcome boost to the local tourism and visitor economy, which continues to recover from a recent earthquake.

Lombok Island is home to blissful beaches, top surfing and dive sites, and picturesque mountains and scenery.

Visitors to Indonesia represent Perth Airport’s largest outbound market.

“Indonesia is also Western Australia’s eighth largest visitor market,” Perth Airport chief corporate services officer Debra Blaskett said.

“Just last year, Western Australia welcomed 31,000 Indonesian visitors, injecting more than $60 million into the WA economy.”

The service to Lombok will add more than 77,000 seats to the Perth market annually.
