ROMANCE Was Born brought colour while the Zhivago women added drama to an otherwise seemingly simple runway at last night’s Perth Fashion Festival launch.

Held at the Perth Concert Hall, designers Dion Lee, Flannel, Romance Was Born, Bianca Spender and Zhivago took to the runway to show off their latest collections.

Simple nudes and classic cuts featured prominently in the Dion Lee collection, while Bianca Spender added a twist to the traditional power suit revealing a cheekier side to the collection.

Flannel provided the crowd with its signature style of neutral hues and easy-to-wear pieces, while Romance Was Born took the fun to another level with eclectic pieces of colour, teamed with beautiful jewels and headwear.

The event, which was to feature a performance by rock-star and former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and girlfriend Orianthi, was not needed as power duo Lydia Tsvetnenko and Lara Kovacevich brought their a-game with a show-stopping finish.

Sexy silhouettes with plunging necklines and veils were part of the collection from the duo that have dressed celebrities including Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kendall and Kylie Jenner and Giuliana Rancic.

Seen sitting FROW (front row) was Today music guru Richard Wilkins’ son Christian, and journalist and social commentator Melissa Hoyer who flew over for the event.

Tonight taking to the runway are Adam Heath and local designers Bruug, House of Skye and Natalie Rolt, while Jennifer Hawkins will walk at tomorrow’s sold-out Myer lunch.

The six-day event is set to attract about 40,000 visitors and runs until Sunday.
