THIS isn’t funny money – The Simpsons have been immortalised in coin form by the Perth Mint.

This series is made up of eight 1oz coins and a 2oz coin struck from 99.99 per cent pure silver, with each limited edition release depicting an iconic character or image from the popular TV show.

The first three coins have been released. One features Homer’s favourite doughnut, another an image of Homer repeating his catchphrase d’oh, the third is an image of their family with their pets.

The coins cost a bit more than a dollarydoo though.

The Homer coin is the cheapest at $59, followed by the doughnut at $115, while the family cost $230.

The remaining coins which will be released over the coming months will feature Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and a Duff Beer can.
