Reign: Perth design duo Jo Iuliano and Bridget Hudson made for each other

Belinda CiprianoWestern Suburbs Weekly

IT was a chance meeting in a vintage store six years ago that brought Jo Iuliano and Bridget Hudson together to create their label Reign.

The design duo, whose backgrounds include styling and design, saw a gap in the market for traditional bridal wear, with Hudson asking Iuliano to help make her dream wedding dress.

“We crossed paths in 2012 when Jo walked into my vintage store,” Hudson said.

“I asked Jo to create my wedding dress and following the wedding, there was an overwhelming response from girls requesting bespoke gowns and bridesmaid dresses.

“It seemed like a natural progression that we would team up to create a label of our own.”

The pair, who already have a solid client base including Amy Zempilas and Abbey Gelmi, have about 20 pieces in their collection and are looking to launch the label officially in August.

“There are beautiful embroidered meshes, sequinned and embellished gowns and luxurious silk satins, all designed to enhance and complement the female body,” Hudson said.

“You will find dresses suitable for race wear, evening wear, balls and bridal.

We are making limited runs in some of the fashion fabrics to offer our clients an exclusive product.

“We are also offering a bespoke service for bridal and evening wear.”

Following the launch, the women plan to sell their pieces online and will look at finding their own studio for customers as well as other stockists.

“Although we will be initially launching our products online, we are aiming to have several stockist outlets in Perth for summer  and would love to find a studio space to house our collections towards the end of 2018,” Hudson said.

“We will definitely be involved in some of the national and international fashion festivals in the near future.”
