Shave honours nurse lost to breast cancer

Staff ReporterWestern Suburbs Weekly

The Subiaco resident shaved her locks in memory of friend Jacqui Gribben this month.

Ms Greenwood aims to raise $5000 for Breast Cancer Care WA.

‘Jacqui was a qualified nurse and worked at both Sir Charles Gairdner and Joondalup hospitals caring for people with cancer,’ she said. ‘Before Jacqui died she asked for donations to be made to Breast Cancer Care WA in her memory.

‘She would have turned 51 this April and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Jacqui’s life than by following her wishes to support this worthwhile cause.’

Ms Greenwood said she hoped people would get on board to support people in their community.

‘Although I’m fundraising in Jacqui’s honour, those who will benefit from your donations are all the wives, mothers, daughters, sisters and their families who are bravely fighting this terrible disease right now, and those who are yet to be diagnosed,’ she said.

‘Breast Cancer Care WA provides services that will lighten the challenges not only for those diagnosed, but also for their family and carers.’
