Subiaco’s Forrest Square to host first live music event as part of sunset@subi series

Jessica WarrinerWestern Suburbs Weekly

FORREST Square in Subiaco is set to host its first live music event as part of the sunset@subi concert series.

The WAAPA Gospel Choir will perform there on Sunday, February 11, to close out the summer performances.

The Forrest Square area was refurbished in 2016 and received a colourful new addition in November, a 300sq m pop-surrealist mural by Spanish artist Okuda called Kid Koala Playing God and Kingaroo.

“As well as shining a spotlight on Western Australian talent, the concerts provide an opportunity for us to come together as a community and enjoy the beautiful surrounds of Subiaco,” mayor Penny Taylor said.

The season opens this Sunday, December 10, with Bambuseae Rhythm Section bringing blues, funk and afrobeats to the Theatre Gardens.

The community concerts are suitable for all ages, and are held every Sunday from 5pm to 7pm until February 11 (aside from Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve).
