Young Claremont artists feature in Youth Black Swan Prize

MOSMAN Park Year 8 student Kathy Haozhe Wang has won a second-place prize and Year 7 student Shuang Chena a third in the 12th annual Youth Black Swan Prize for Portraiture.

More than 200 young artists entered the portrait competition prize this year, with 27 finalists from WA, two from Victoria and one from Queensland.

The artists entered portraits of Australians they respected or admired, or self-portraits, in a variety of mediums.

Kathy and Shuang are students at Claremont’s Du FN Academy of Fine Arts.

All the winning entries are at Brookfield Place in Perth CBD until the end of November.
