Girl gang hit Cottesloe bottleshop in repeated raids

A GIRL gang with one member as young as 11 have stolen almost $2000 worth of strong alcohol and spirits in repeated raids of a Cottesloe bottleshop in the past five days.

“They are possibly stealing for adults because some of the things they have taken was bourbon, but they have also taken the pre-mixed and sweet drinks favoured by youth,” Senior Constable Mark Matthews said.

The gang of five girls aged 11 to 16 were reported taking 15 bottles of spirits worth about $1000 at the Albion Hotel’s BWS bottle shop on Stirling Highway, Cottesloe about 1.05pm last Saturday.

“One later returned and told the staff ‘You can’t touch me’, before running off,” Constable Matthews said.

The gang raided the bottleshop’s fridges and took $400 of alcoholic drinks when they returned at 7pm that day.

Constable Matthews said they came back and took another $144 of spirits about 8pm on April 22.

However, only three girls aged 15 to 16 appeared for the final raid on the bottleshop about 3pm on April 25.

“They ran through the store, went to the premixed drinks and spirits sections, and stole vodka and pre-mix to the value of $330,” he said.

Police want to speak to girls described as dark-skinned, one of whom has a solid build and is about 15, another wore a silver earring with dyed blue hair, and the third was about 16.

Police are examining CCTV.
