LEE Van Boheemen will contest the National Rose Society Championships at the 2016 Spring Rose Show this weekend but says it won’t be easy.
Mr Van Boheemen, of Hamersley, said people who pruned their roses early would have the best chance at the prize.
“I pruned 10-and-a-half weeks ago and my roses are still struggling,” he said.
“It’s all a matter of timing but unfortunately you can’t predict the weather.”
The Rose Society of WA will host the National Championships at Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club.
There will be rose blooms exhibited in various judged classes, including floral art, a display by the Heritage Roses in Australia Inc (Perth Region) and blooms from the Swiss Rose Garden Nursery.
Visitors can purchase rose bushes, gifts, rose related merchandise and homemade morning and afternoon tea.
