All-day parking in Subiaco East Precinct reduced to $5 a day

Victoria RificiWestern Suburbs Weekly

PARKING all day in the Subiaco East Precinct has been reduced from as much as $18 a day to $5.

City of Subiaco councillors voted unanimously at a meeting on Tuesday night to change carpark fees within the east of Subiaco, including carparks surrounding the former Princess Margaret Hospital.

The fee change was in response to a Car Park Occupancy Report that revealed a reduction of parking use within the area, prompted by the relocation of PMH.

Mayor Penny Taylor said the City would regularly review carpark use and prices.

“With the departure of PMH we knew we would be reviewing this area and we always want to make sure we optimise the use of city assets,” she said.

Mrs Taylor said the City received a positive response from local residents and businesses regarding parking fee changes.

“Businesses were really pleased to hear we were bringing this initiative forward and Subiaco residents would prefer people to look for carparks than street parking,” she said.

The City hopes new all-day carpark fees will encourage local workers into the car stations.

Fees in the Roydhouse Street Car Station will also be reduced from $12 to $5 daily.

However, the Derby Road Car Station will be more expensive with parking from Monday to Friday increasing from $12 to $14 all-day.

Onslow Road Car Station will also increase to $12 all-day instead of $10.

No fee changes were made to Jersey Street Car Station, Stubbs Terrace Car Station and Nicholson Road Car Station.
