WEST Leederville’s Meerilinga Young Children’s Foundation is welcoming applicants for its 2019 Children’s Week Community Grants.

The grants of up to $1000 are available to not-for-profit community groups and local governments to host events in remote, regional and metropolitan WA.

The grants will provide recipients with the opportunity to bring their local community together through facilitating events and supporting and encouraging children and their families to celebrate, play and discover.

Over 200 applications were received in 2018 for the $50,000 in grant money.

Meerilinga chief executive Lesley Moreschi said she welcomed those eligible for 2019 grants to apply.

“Some communities may not otherwise have opportunity to celebrate Children’s Week, and we aim to strengthen local capacity by providing these grants thanks to the generosity of funders,” she said.

“We strongly encourage community groups, not for profits and local government to submit an application for Children’s Week funding by August 16.”
