THERE were 43 Rivieras on the Swan River as part of the 16th annual Riviera raft-up on Friday, making it the second largest event behind last year that attracted 48 boats.

Organisers will aim for 50 Rivieras next year.

On Friday, the luxury motor launches, and some couples, were tied up together with some wedding vow renewals taking place.

“As skipper of the fleet, I’ll be conducting a couple of surprise wedding vow renewals,” East Fremantle-based R Marine principal Michael Pitman said before the event.

Perth has about 400 of the yachts, ranging in cost from $150,000 to $3.3 million.

“Owning one is just like having a holiday house on the water,” skipper Peter Breasley said about his 47ft-long launch Alegria.
