‘We’ve factored in the submissions’ response mechanism into our recommendations to the Minister,’ Local Government Advisory Board chairman Mel Congerton said.

Mr Congerton said many submissions in the past two weeks were identical comments on changes to new councils proposed for Serpentine-Jarrahdale, Kwinana and Cockburn.

He said he ‘looked forward’ to what the WA Local Government Association would define as a significant change to a council that could trigger a residents’ poll and potentially reject his recommendation for that area at its September 3 meeting.

Mr Simpson said councils would have a briefing only after he had considered the board’s recommendations.
