THREE boys charged with the alleged burglary of an 84-year-old Shenton Park woman’s home are also being investigated for connection to a string of crimes in surrounding suburbs this week.

“Between Monday to Tuesday there were a total of 18 burglaries within the Wembley police sub-district that maybe linked to these alleged, and other, offenders that police are investigating,” Senior Sergeant Peter Gilmour said.

On Tuesday, Sgt Gilmour’s officers charged a Kenwick boy (15), a Bentley boy (11) and a Forrestfield boy (12) with aggravated burglary and stealing.

It is alleged they smashed the rear glass door of the elderly woman’s Morgan Street home and stole jewellery of about $1000 about 1pm that day.

“We will allege they were observed by witnesses jumping rear fences to get away,” Sgt Gilmour said.

The boys walked to the Shenton Park train station where there was a short foot chase and police arrested all three.

They had their bail refused at Perth Children’s Court on Wednesday.
