A BURGLAR walking back to his getaway car greeted his victim when he arrived at his home in Mosman Park on Wednesday.

The victim had come back to his St Barbara Terrace home after taking his child to an early morning school activity about 15 minutes earlier.

Senior Constable Belinda Crafford said the victim saw a car at the exit of the terrace facing into its intersection with Riversea View.

“And just at that moment he saw the man walking towards it with a balaclava, and thought ‘That’s odd’,” she said.

“He said the burglar waved at him twice, perhaps to appear it was normal.”

The burglar left in the car, which was described as a dark or blue older model Holden Commodore or Ford.

It had red and blue lights in its grille, darkened windows and an obscured number plate.

He was described as neatly dressed.

The victim later found CCTV cameras in a box had been taken from his garage, which had been searched.
