Cambridge to star at short film festival

Laura PondWestern Suburbs Weekly

ASPIRING young filmmakers can be part of an inaugural film festival.

The Town of Cambridge will host a short film festival competition this year for youths that live in or study at a school within the area.

Councillor Kate McKerracher presented the idea to council at its December meeting, and believed similar events had been run successfully by the cities of Kalamunda and Vincent.

Council supported the initiative, which will become one of the events delivered as part of the Town’s youth services strategy.

The festival will be aimed at people aged 24 or younger who can create a live action or animated short film, which must contain a scene or image of a Town landmark.

It was suggested shortlisted films be shown at an event at Quarry Amphitheatre and the prize be valued up to $1000.
