Said the program offered comfort to patients during a distressing time.

“There’s been great feedback from the guests already, so I’m excited to expand the service,” she said.

“It’s hard for the patients undergoing treatment and being away from their families, so this program gives them something to look forward to, in turn making a massive difference to their stay at the Lodge.”

The program currently runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays with plans to expand.

Cancer Council’s complementary therapies co-ordinator Brooke Butler said studies showed therapies improved the quality of life for people affected by cancer.

“The therapies also provide support to relieve symptoms from the medical care patients are receiving,” she said
