On Wednesday, July 16 at about 3.30pm, a 79-year-old man was driving in the car park of Captain Stirling Fresh IGA, off Florence Road, when he apparently accidentally accelerated through the shop’s window.
Security footage captured the moment the car drove through the window, with a female pedestrian and children jumping out of the oncoming vehicle’s way.
Police said two pedestrians received minor injuries but the driver was unharmed and could not recall the incident.
IGA store manager Richard Bryant said the window frame and about $1000 in stock was damaged but luckily no one was in the affected aisle at the time.
‘We’re happy there was nil cost to human lives,’ he said.
