Car set on fire at popular Perth beach

POLICE are appealing for information after a car was set on fire in a Scarborough carpark.

A green Ford Falcon sedan was parked in the lower northern carpark at Scarborough Beach last Wednesday night when it was allegedly set alight.

A witness reported seeing two men standing near the car at about 9.30pm before they saw the inside of the car on fire.

The witness told police the men ran from the scene and got inside a waiting white Audi vehicle.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended and extinguished the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the interior.

Police found two soft drink bottles on the car seat that were filled with unleaded petrol.
