Catholic priest charged with further historical child sex offences

POLICE have laid more charges against an 83-year-old former Catholic priest charged with historic child sex offences.

The man allegedly indecently assaulted a seven-year-old girl while he was a Catholic Church priest in Carlisle in 1970.

The Subiaco man has now been charged with three counts of indecently assaulting a female.

He previously allegedly physically and sexually assaulted seven children (girls and boys) aged between 6 and 12 years of age at the time of the first offence between 1979 and 1992 during his time as a priest at a Catholic Church in Shenton Park.

The man was charged with six counts of indecent dealing with a child under 14 years, one count of unlawfully and indecently assaulting a male and two counts of unlawful assault.

He is due to appear before Perth Magistrates Court today.
