CHANNEL Seven, the AFL’s chief broadcast partner, has been forced into an embarrassing about-face after publishing a picture of AFLW star Tayla Harris on social media.

Yesterday the network’s Twitter account published a photo of Harris executing a kick.

But the photo attracted what the network described as “reprehensible”, “inappropriate” and “offensive” comments.

So the decision was made to remove the image.

But this prompted anger from people who said the photo’s removal sent the wrong message.

Seven acknowledged this, with another Tweet.

Harris herself weighed into the furore, tweeting the picture with a message for the trolls.

On radio this morning Harris said she was feeling empowered by the support she’d received.

She was also supported by former AFL great Matthew Pavlich, who tweeted a photo of the kick with the hashtag #athlete.
