Child sex charges: former child psychologist accused of 40 offences

A 68-year-old man has been charged with a series of child sex offences allegedly committed while he was a practicing child psychologist.

It will be alleged the West Leederville man sexually abused three children between 1985 and 1992 while he was working at the Hillview Terrace Hospital, Cambridge Private Hospital and a private practice in Subiaco.

The children were aged between 11 and 17 at the time of the incidents.

The man was deregistered from practice in February 1992.

The arrest came about after an investigation by WA Police Taskforce Tonalite.

Tonalite was established within the Child Abuse Squad in 2010 to investigate historical child sexual abuse, including allegations stemming from the Royal Commission into Institutional Response to Child Sex Abuse.

The man has been charged with 40 offences: 26 counts of indecent assault, eight counts of indecent assault, five counts of indecent treatment of a child under 14 and one count of defilement of a girl under 13.

He was due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday. July 27
