DC Comics superhero Batman will also receive a star.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame Selection Committee announced on Thursday the 35-year-old Melbourne-born Hemsworth and the 34 other honorees were picked from hundreds of nominations.

Hemsworth visited WA for a holiday with fellow star Matt Damon earlier this year.

Hemsworth has become one of Hollywood’s biggest and highest-paid stars, with his role as Thor in Marvel’s blockbuster superhero films and starring in other major movies including Men In Black and Ghostbusters reboots.

Dates for the star ceremonies are yet to be scheduled.

The stars are placed along Hollywood Boulevard and other iconic areas of Hollywood.

But the stars don’t come cheap.

Each nominee’s sponsor agrees to pay $US50,000 ($A72,250) to the Hollywood Historic Trust charitable foundation for the creation, installation and maintenance of the star.
