Christmas to start with an Italian-themed market in Claremont

Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

THERE is an Italian flavour to the first street celebration and night market Buon Natale, which will start Christmas celebrations in Bay View Terrace, Claremont on December 6.

“We’ve chosen Italy because of the terrace’s cobbles, the tree-lined streets, alfresco dining and European-style Christmas markets,” Claremont Mayor Jock Barker said.

Buon Natale is promised to transform the terrace’s northern end by showcasing gift ideas and entertainment, such as the accordion duo Jingle Bello.

“As you wander, you’ll enjoy delicious Italian fare and beverage delights, soak up the ambience of street artists and the Perth Choral Institute’s Christmas Carolling, listen to Christmas tales and share in the spirit of our special community street celebration,” Mr Barker said.

This is the video channel for our website at www.communitynews.com.au and is managed by the Community Newspaper Group in Perth, Western Australia.

The terrace is home to many Italian restaurants among those participating in a series of celebratory nights running into the start of 2019.

They include The Claremont Hotel, Claremont Newsagency, Nolita Italian Cafe, and StandIn’ Room.

Other supporting businesses are Hannah Etherington Flowers, MJ Creations, Modern Era, La Lucca, Crust Pizza, Claremont Toyworld, Lady Kitchener, Monde, Pressed Earth, The Italian Closet and Temptations.

After Buon Natale, there will be a Christmas gap until Terrace Nights starts again on January 10 and runs weekly each Thursday from 5pm to 9pm until February 14.
