City Beach crash splits open car on West Coast Highway

A DRIVER (26) and his female passenger (30) are in hospital after a crash that split a car on West Coast Highway, City Beach about 3am yesterday.

Police said the driver’s Mitsubishi Lancer was travelling north on the highway when it failed to negotiate a left hand bend.

The car mounted a median strip, hit a tree and light pole, and was torn into two pieces.

The driver and the passenger were taken by St John Ambulance to Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses who saw the car before or during the crash should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
