CITY Beach’s Quarry Amphitheatre has been state heritage listed.

The announcement was made by Heritage Minister David Templeman earlier this month.

Mayor Keri Shannon said Town of Cambridge was pleased the Quarry had been listed as a place of importance.

“We fully supported the application and have listed it on our municipal register,” she said

“The Quarry Amphitheatre is an important local landmark and venue for the arts.”

Mr Templeman said the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage had assessed the Quarry Amphitheatre for heritage registration since 2017.

“The Quarry Amphitheatre has social significance to the local and wider community having been a venue for concerts, ballet and other cultural events since 1986,” he said.

The site is the only former limestone quarry used as an amphitheatre in WA.
