City of Nedlands to undergo green revolution

CITY of Nedlands is taking steps to go green, with new sustainable initiatives to improve energy efficiency, air quality and water conservation.

The City’s administration building will soon undergo a transformation to include a green wall, to help improve the aesthetics of the building and air quality.

Mayor Max Hipkins said the new green wall would be completed by the end of August.

“These initiatives may be small, but together they add to the sustainability of our environment, with the added benefits of saving residents money in the long term,” he said.

“I hope people take our lead and think about what small steps they can take themselves to benefit the environment.”

The City has also installed water wise gardens and bio-swales draining systems for controlling erosion and conserving water.
