City of Subiaco Mayor Heather Henderson to step down

CITY of Subiaco Mayor Heather Henderson today confirmed she will not contest the October 21 local government election.

“After 12 years as the mayor of the City of Subiaco and before that 13 years as a councillor, I have decided it is time to hand over the reins to a new mayor,” Mrs Henderson said.

“I won’t be renominating and wish all the mayoral candidates the best for the upcoming election.

“I will still be working hard as the City’s mayor until my last day on 21 October as there are still important issues before council that need addressing.”

Six people will contest the Subiaco mayoral election, including current councillors Mark Burns, Julie Matheson, Stephanie Stroud and Lee Hemsley.

Penny Taylor, who ran as a Labor candidate against Bill Marmion in the seat of Nedlands at the last State Election, and Andrew McTaggart are also in the mix.
