HIGH profile property lawyer Fiona Grgich was present at a special meeting held by the City of Subiaco on Monday night to discuss the City’s lease of Subiaco Oval to the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC).
Ms Grgich, a partner at McLeod’s Barristers and Solicitors, was invited to advise the council about its 99-year lease to the WAFC.
The Oval was granted as an asset to the WAFC in 1995 to generate revenue for grassroots football from AFL, WAFL and other stadium events.
The meeting came a week after the WAFC rejected a compensation deal from the State Government for $100 million for losing the contract for the new Perth Stadium.
Councillors voted for the meeting to be held behind closed doors, however Western Suburbs Weekly understands a decision was reached by the City of Subiaco.
