THE CITY of Subiaco unveiled the latest addition to its public art collection on International Peace Day.

The artwork, or ‘peace pole’, is to serve as a permanent reminder of the City’s aspiration for peace.

The City is part of Mayors for Peace, an international collective committed to world peace.

Mayor Heather Henderson said the City was thrilled to unveil the peace pole.

“The new peace pole will be located in a tranquil, specially landscaped space. We hope that people will use the space to sit, think and reflect in the spirit of peace and harmony,” she said.

“We are thrilled to join thousands of cities from around the world, including cities of Fremantle and Cockburn, as members of Mayors for Peace.”

The Subiaco peace pole features the phrase ‘may peace prevail on earth’ in English, Noongar, Japanese and Italian.

The pole is located in Rankin Gardens, outside the City’s administration centre on the corner of Rokeby Road and Hamersley Road.
