Denise S. CahillWestern Suburbs Weekly

CLAREMONT is the fashion destination in WA, according to the Town of Claremont’s new marketing officer Jacqui Brown.

Ms Brown said she had worked with the Town and several retailers, including Sophia Jalla from Perlu, in the past but was looking forward to having more ongoing contact with them in the two-day-a-week role.

“In the past I worked on projects that were more consumer based to bring shoppers to the area,” she said.

“Being able to work in house is a one off for me and let’s me really understand the culture and the community here.”

Ms Brown, who also runs marketing and events company The Studio, said she was working on activating the Claremont town centre in the lead up to Melbourne Cup.

“There’ll be pre-Melbourne Cup activities and shopping in the lead up to the big day,” she said.

Ms Jalla said her team had already started helping customers with styling for spring racing.

The Town has also appointed Annette Brown as a place activation project officer to work with Claremont businesses to activate the town centre and strengthen economic outcomes.

Community development officer Chris Cottle will work on community initiatives with the Town’s seniors, youth and other groups.
