Controversial Cambridge mayor to run again

CAMBRIDGE Mayor Simon Withers says he is in for six nervous weeks after he confirmed he was re-nominating for mayor today.

"Now Im in for six nervous, gut-wrenching weeks," Mr Withers said.

"Im not looking forward to what they are going to throw at us."

Mr Withers said he delayed nominating so he and his family could have a break from the criticism of other candidates and some residents.

He said while other candidates would campaign on what they could do differently in his position, he would use his track record as mayor as his greatest selling point.

"I've always been going to run."

"I think my chances are pretty good."

Town of Cambridge councillor Pauline O’Connor, Keri Shannon and Gary Mack have all nominated to run for mayor.
