COTTESLOE chief executive Mat Humfrey has resigned and will take up a role as director of corporate services at the City Of Joondalup in 2020.
“He resigned last week, and it’s a bit of a disappointment for us as he’s been with us for eight years,” Cottesloe Mayor Phil Angers said.
Mr Humfrey initially joined Cottesloe as its manager of corporate and community services.

READ NOWHe took the council through several controversial issues including finalising Town Planning Scheme No.4, the Indiana Restaurant lease and the recent installation of the shark barrier at Cottesloe Beach.
He was entitled to a salary between $156,000 to $256,000 at the small council, which in 2017 revealed he was being paid a package of $210,000.
Mr Angers said Mr Humfrey had been an asset for the town when moving its depot to Mosman Park, during shark barrier debate and the lease.
He said Mr Humfrey had left 7000-resident Cottesloe for the career advancement of working at the 155,000-resident city in Perth’s northern suburbs
Mr Humfrey has a lived in that city most of his life, and Mr Angers said his new role would also help his family life, compared to the 45-minute daily commute to Cottesloe.
The council is currently advertising for a replacement, but any decision is not expected until the New Year.
Mr Angers said deputy-chief executive Neil Hartley will act in the top job during the pending Christmas break and until a new chief executive is found.
