Cottesloe: House of Riches owner selling Hofner left-handed bass signed by Sir Paul McCartney

Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

IT may have been played by Sir Paul McCartney, but Cottesloe’s House of Riches owner Ann Broadley is selling the classic Hofner left-hand bass guitar made famous by the former Beatle.

“You look at it and there is some wear on the neck, so you never know, he could have used it, but we don’t know,” Ms Broadley said.

She bought the authenticated guitar for her husband for $7000 at a charity event seven years ago.

Moving to a smaller house means it must now go, even if a sale risks the ire of a grandson who was expecting it in her will.

“I have every Beatles album, and Sgt Pepper’s… is my favourite because it represents a different time,” she said.

Despite her fandom, Ms Broadley will not be going to Sir Paul’s concert at Perth Oval tomorrow.

“I’ve got other grandchildren to babysit,” she said.
