Cottesloe: perfect conditions and blood red sun create atmosphere for brilliant photographs

A BLOOD red sun from smoke haze combined with no wind and swell to create eerie yet perfect conditions for stand-up paddlers, surfers and surf foilers in Cottesloe on Wednesday evening.

A trio of longboarders enjoyed Isolated.

Car bays were at a premium when the Western Suburbs Weekly captured these images of those on the water enjoying their sports at several popular locations south of the Cottesloe Groyne.

The swell produced a wave a Dutch Inn.

The red light cast by the descending sun, The Cove, Isolated, Telephone Box, Dutch Inn and Deep Six surf breaks had surfers using boards suited to each spot.

Skills show an Isolated.

The smoke was created by prescribed burns to lessen bushfire danger in the Perth Hills in Mundaring and Dwellingup.

A SUP rider using a hydrofoil got most ride at Deep Six .
