THE westerns suburbs five-member Cherratta Lodge team takes a relaxed attitude to training before the two-day Red Dog Relay through the Pilbara during the WA Day long weekend next month.
“Everyone is doing their own training, and we’ve already had one meeting about it, and may have another one,” team member and Cottesloe resident Mal Wylie (42) said.
Replay competitors run, cycle, paddle, 4WD, hike and swim in teams of four to six of different fitness levels between Dampier, Karratha and Millstream Chichester National Park before the return leg.

Mosman Park resident Tom Atkinson (41) did the first replay in 2014 named after the region’s Red Dog legend about the wandering kelpie dog, which became a friend to many of the region’s residents.
“You’re on a journey when you do it, with your mates beside you urging you on, or sharing your pain, and whether you are fit or unfit there is no sense of being left alone,” Mr Atkinson said.
He and his fellow team members will raise money for the Royal flying Doctor Service this year.
