GIVING up free time to deliver books and the caring for the coast by volunteers Pat Elder and Laurel Bant was recognised at the 2016 Town of Cottesloe Volunteer Recognition Awards recently.

“Both of these women have given their time, energy and good will to assist the community,” Cottesloe Mayor Jo Dawkins said.

Ms Elder checks on the welfare of those she had taken books to from The Grove library for the past 20 years, while Ms Bant has been a hands-on contributor to the work of Cottesloe Coastcare.

Former Cottesloe councillors Rob Rowell, Peter Jeanes and Jack Walsh were also recognised for their hard work and commitment while on the council, and as part of National Volunteer Week.

Mrs Dawkins said all community groups and individuals who volunteered helped contribute to the town.

“Without their time and dedication we would not have he vibrant interactive community of which we are so proud of in Cottesloe,” she said.
