THE Town of Cottesloe approved the installation of new 15m floodlights costing Cottesloe Amateur Football Club $40,000 at Cottesloe Oval at its December meeting.
“At times it has been an unsafe oval; there have been accidents and improvements are essential,” councillor Helen Bourke said.
The WA Planning Commission (WAPC) will have the final say on the lights, which the club applied for. There were no comments from neighbours or the State Heritage Council on the proposal.
It is planned to build the lights on the east side of the oval with their beams facing west.
They will operate from 5pm to 8pm during training on Mondays, Wednesdays and some Fridays from January to September.
