Don and Darinka Brooker will be travelling down the WA coast in their lifesaver-themed car for the week-long adventure that is far from their first.

‘I’ve done five and Don has done 10,’ Mrs Brooker said.

The couple and other participants will start in Exmouth and drive to Onslow and down the coast from there, visiting different secret locations along the way in their 1974 Volvo T164.

‘The Pilbara is always good and the Kimberley has been a favourite, although we’re not going through there this year,’ Mrs Brooker said.

The couple has donned lifesaver costumes for the past four years. When asked why lifesavers, Mrs Brooker said it was a case of practicality.

‘It’s a simple outfit that we’ll be wearing 24-7,’ she said,

‘It’s cool in hot places and can be warmed up when it’s cold. It’s child-friendly and if they (the kids) don’t know about the beach then we can teach them.’

The Brookers have already raised $25,000 for the bash, a fitting number for the 25-year anniversary.

Each new participating team must donate $8000 and returning participants $10,000.

The bash will officially start in Exmouth on August 25.
