Crawley: foreign tourists warned they are targets for theft while visiting boatshed

FOREIGN tourists are again the target of thieves when the visitors leaving their cars in Kings Park and going to the iconic blue boatshed on Mounts Bay Road, Crawley.

“What’s happening is Asian tourists are parking at the top of nearby Kings Park Avenue, walking down to the boatshed and their cars are being smashed into and their valuables taken,” Sergeant Ian Carter said.

Several months ago, a spate of thefts from tourists’ cars near the boatshed and in the park prompted the City of Perth to install signs in foreign languages to warning visitors of the threat.

However, valuables were taken from two cars used by tourists on December 4 and two more on December 6, after they were parked on Kings Park Avenue, despite warning signs.
