Mrs Croll was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 18 and Cripps, of Karrinyup, received his diagnosis at the same age prior to being drafted in the AFL.

“We’re excited to be joining Crippa in raising funds for this important cause by hosting this latest Diabetes Research WA fundraiser at Drift,” Mr Croll said.

“While type 1 diabetes can be managed with insulin, it would be incredible to see a cure or a way to prevent it in our lifetimes.

“There’s also still a need for medical research breakthroughs to reduce the health complications it can cause.”

Diabetes Research WA chief executive Sherl Westlund said it was critical to fund diabetes research, which was being done by some “amazing minds” in WA.

Tickets for the event cost $25 plus booking fee and available here.
